Lathrop Gage handles all aspects of patent, trademark and copyright in the United States and worldwide:

  • Prosecution: We work to safeguard our clients’ ideas and innovations. Our registered patent attorneys and agents have a remarkable record of securing patents on electrical devices and circuits, biotechnology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing equipment, business methods, optical devices, computer hardware and software, management systems and all other forms of technology.
  • Transactions: We advise clients on the acquisition, transfer and exploitation of IP assets through licensing; mergers and acquisitions; and strategic alliances and joint ventures.
  • Litigation: When conflicts do arise, our team of IP litigators knows how to find fast, fair relief. Lathrop Gage has litigated hundreds of cases in state and federal courts nationwide, involving copyright infringement, noncompetition agreements, patent infringement, patent validity, trademark and trade dress infringement, unfair competition and more.

Our team of more than 60 practitioners includes attorneys with advanced degrees in a number of scientific fields; a former trademark examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; and individuals recognized by Chambers USABest Lawyers in America, the BTI Client Service All-Star Team and the World Trademark Review. In 2014, our intellectual property practice ranked among the top 50 firms in Corporate Counsel’s Annual Patent Litigation Survey.

Lathrop Gage clients are the backbone of our economy. We work as one integrated team to help them see beyond immediate challenges to achieve their most important objectives.
